Looking for an eRank Alternative? Here's What We Built (And Why It's Different)
We use eRank ourselves — it's the best keyword tool for Etsy. But it can't tell you what your competitors changed yesterday. So we built Peeksy.
By the team behind Jellies Design — 85,000+ Etsy sales, 4.9★ rating
If you're reading this, you probably already use eRank. And honestly? You probably should keep using it.
eRank is the best keyword research tool for Etsy. Over a million sellers use it for good reason: the Keyword Explorer is excellent, the listing audit catches things you'd miss, and the Trend Buzz feature is genuinely useful for seasonal planning.
So why did we build something else?
Because after running an Etsy shop with 85,000+ sales, we realized that knowing which keywords to use is only half the battle. The other half is knowing what your competitors are actually doing — right now, today, this week.
And that's the part eRank doesn't cover.
What eRank Does Well (And Why We Still Use It)
Before we talk about what's missing, let's be fair about what eRank gets right.
Keyword research is eRank's bread and butter. The Keyword Tool and Keyword Explorer give you search volume, competition scores, click-through rates, and trend data across multiple countries. If you're trying to figure out which tags to put on a listing, eRank is where you start.
Listing audits are another strong point. eRank grades your listings from A to F and catches missing tags, spelling errors, and SEO gaps. It's like having a proofreader who also understands Etsy's search algorithm.
Trend tracking via Trend Buzz shows you what buyers are searching for right now — daily, weekly, or monthly. For sellers who create seasonal products, this is invaluable.
And the pricing is fair. eRank's free tier is one of the most generous in the Etsy tool ecosystem. The paid plans run from $9.99/mo (Pro) to $29.99/mo (Expert), which is reasonable for what you get.
We're not here to trash eRank. We use it ourselves.
The Gap We Kept Running Into
Here's what happened to us at Jellies Design. We'd do our keyword research in eRank, optimize our listings, get our SEO grades up — and then we'd notice something: a competitor dropped their prices by 20% on their top 10 listings. Another one suddenly had 15 new products in a niche we thought was ours. A third had changed all their tags overnight and started outranking us.
We didn't find out from eRank. We found out by manually checking competitor shops. Every. Single. Day.
eRank's competitor tracking exists — the Shop Tracker feature on the Pro plan lets you follow up to 50 shops. But here's what it actually shows you: a 30-day sales graph at the shop level. That's it. You can see daily sales estimates for the past week and which listings are selling.
What it doesn't show you:
- When a competitor changes their prices — and by how much
- When new listings appear — and whether they're genuinely new or just reactivated
- When tags change on competitor listings — so you can spot SEO strategy shifts
- Sales velocity within a single day — hourly spikes from promotions or features
- Favorites and cart counts over time — demand signals before a product takes off
And critically: eRank doesn't alert you. There are no email notifications when something changes. You have to go check the dashboard yourself and remember what the numbers looked like yesterday.
For a shop our size, manually monitoring competitors was eating 30–45 minutes a day. For a tool that's supposed to save you time, that's a lot of time lost.
So We Built Peeksy
Peeksy is not an eRank replacement. It's the tool we wished existed alongside eRank.
The core idea is simple: Peeksy watches your competitors so you don't have to. It takes snapshots of every tracked shop and listing every 6 hours, compares them to the previous snapshot, and tells you what changed.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
Price Change Detection + Alerts
When a competitor drops (or raises) their prices, Peeksy catches it and sends you an email alert. No other Etsy tool does this. You'll see the old price, the new price, and when the change happened.
Why this matters: Price changes are the clearest signal that a competitor is adjusting their strategy. A sudden 30% discount on 20 listings? That's a clearance sale or a seasonal push. Incremental 5% increases over weeks? They're testing price elasticity. Either way, you want to know — and you want to know when it happens, not three weeks later.
Sales Velocity Tracking (Every 6 Hours)
Most tools give you daily sales estimates. Peeksy captures data four times per day. That difference matters more than it sounds.
A daily number tells you "this shop sold 12 units today." A 6-hour snapshot tells you "this shop sold 8 units between noon and 6 PM — right after they dropped their prices." That's the difference between knowing what happened and understanding why.
New, Updated & Reactivated Listing Classification
When a competitor adds listings, Peeksy doesn't just say "5 new listings." It classifies them: is this genuinely new product? A seasonal reactivation? An updated version of something they already sold? This distinction matters because a shop adding 20 "new" listings might actually just be restocking — very different from a shop launching 20 genuinely new products.
Tag Change Detection Over Time
This is one of Peeksy's unique features. When a competitor changes the tags on their listings, you can see exactly what was added and what was removed. Over time, this reveals their SEO strategy evolution — and gives you keywords you might be missing.
Email Briefings That Come to You
You don't need to log into a dashboard to know what changed. Peeksy sends you daily or weekly email digests summarizing competitor activity: price changes, new listings, sales spikes, tag updates. Open your inbox, scan the briefing, and you know the state of your market in 60 seconds.
Tag Gap Analysis
Compare your tags directly against any competitor's. See what keywords they're using that you're not. It bridges SEO research and competitive intelligence — and it's actionable within minutes.
eRank vs. Peeksy: An Honest Side-by-Side
Here's how the two tools compare across the features that matter:
| Feature | eRank | Peeksy |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword research | Excellent (core feature) | — Not offered |
| Listing audit / SEO grade | Comprehensive | — Not offered |
| Trending keywords | Trend Buzz | — Not offered |
| Shop-level sales tracking | 30-day graph | Unlimited history |
| Listing-level sales | — Not available | Per-listing tracking |
| Price change detection | — Not available | With email alerts |
| New/removed listing detection | — Not available | With classification |
| Tag change detection | — Not available | Historical tracking |
| Sales velocity (sub-daily) | — Daily only | Every 6 hours |
| Email alerts on changes | — Not available | Daily/weekly digests |
| Tag gap analysis | — Not available | Direct comparison |
| Favorites/cart trends | — Snapshot only | Time-series |
| Sale event detection | — Not available | Start/end + duration |
| Multi-language (EN/DE/FR) | EN only | EN, DE, FR |
The pattern is clear: eRank is a research tool. Peeksy is a monitoring tool. They answer different questions.
eRank answers: "What keywords should I use? How good is my listing? What's trending?"
Peeksy answers: "What did my competitors change? When did they change it? How is the market moving?"
Pricing Comparison
| eRank Free | eRank Pro | eRank Expert | Peeksy Free | Peeksy Starter | Peeksy Growth | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $9.99/mo | $29.99/mo | $0 | $9.99/mo | $24.99/mo |
| Shops tracked | 1 (own) | 10 | 100 | 2 | 5 | 25 |
| Core value | Keyword research | + Competitor sales | + Unlimited features | Competitor monitoring | + Alerts + History | + 6h snapshots |
Peeksy's Starter plan costs the same as eRank's Pro plan. But they're budgets for different things — it's like comparing what you spend on ingredients vs. what you spend on kitchen equipment. Both are necessary, they just serve different purposes.
Who Should Consider Peeksy?
Peeksy isn't for every Etsy seller. If you're just starting out and have fewer than 50 listings, your time is better spent on keyword research and listing optimization — eRank's territory.
Peeksy makes sense when:
You're in a competitive niche. If there are 10+ shops selling similar products, knowing what they change and when is the difference between reacting in time and finding out too late.
You've outgrown manual competitor checks. If you're spending 20+ minutes a day looking at competitor shops, Peeksy automates that entirely and sends you the highlights.
You care about pricing strategy. If you've ever been undercut on price and didn't notice for weeks, price change alerts alone are worth the subscription.
You sell in European markets. Peeksy is the only Etsy intelligence tool with native German and French language support. If you sell to DACH or Francophone markets, every other tool treats you as an afterthought.
You already use eRank or EverBee. Peeksy complements those tools. Use eRank to find keywords. Use EverBee to discover products. Use Peeksy to watch the market after you've launched.
The "Built by Sellers" Part Isn't Marketing Fluff
Most Etsy tools are built by software companies who study the market from the outside. We built Peeksy because we needed it for our own shop.
Jellies Design has been on Etsy since 2019. We've sold over 85,000 products, maintained a 4.9-star rating, and learned most of our lessons the hard way — including the lesson that no existing tool was showing us what our competitors were actually doing.
Every feature in Peeksy exists because we ran into a real problem running a real Etsy shop. Price change alerts? We got undercut by a competitor and didn't notice for two weeks. Tag change detection? We watched a competitor gradually adopt all our best-performing keywords. Email digests? Because opening three browser tabs every morning to manually check competitor shops is not a good use of a seller's time.
We're not guessing what sellers need. We know, because we need it too.
Try It Free — No Credit Card Required
