Koalanda Alternative: Why We Built Deeper Competitor Monitoring on Top
Koalanda is a solid, affordable Etsy keyword + tracking tool. Looking for a Koalanda alternative with 6-hour velocity and price-change alerts? Here's an honest comparison.
By the team behind Jellies Design — 85,000+ Etsy sales, 4.9★ rating
Unlike the other tools we've compared ourselves to, Koalanda isn't really in a different category from Peeksy. eRank and EverBee are research tools — keywords, listing audits, product discovery. Koalanda does some of that too, but it also tracks competitor shops with sales history and keyword data. That makes it the closest thing to a direct competitor Peeksy has.
So this comparison is going to look different from our others. We're not going to argue Koalanda does one thing and we do another. We both track shops. The real question is: how deep does that tracking go, and what do you actually see when something changes?
We'll give you our honest read — including the places where Koalanda is simply better or cheaper.
What Koalanda Does Well
Koalanda bundles keyword research, listing SEO suggestions, product discovery, and shop tracking into one flat-rate subscription. A few things stand out.
Shop Explorer is genuinely useful. Koalanda claims to track over 6 million Etsy shops, and you can browse that catalog with filters for country, category, shop age, and listing count — no need to already know who your competitors are. That's a real strength for market research and finding shops to track in the first place.
Competitor sales history goes deep on time range: you can pull a shop's sales trajectory over the past 30 days or the full past year. That's longer lookback than most tools offer, and it's handy for spotting seasonal patterns or checking "is everyone's traffic down, or just mine."
Keyword research + listing editing in one place is a real convenience. You can find keywords, then edit your listing titles, tags, and descriptions with SEO suggestions, without leaving the tool. eRank and EverBee both require you to copy suggestions elsewhere; Koalanda keeps the loop closed.
The pricing is aggressive. A single plan unlocks everything — no feature-gated tiers to puzzle over. Billed monthly it's $11.99/mo; quarterly drops to $9.99/mo; committed annually it's $5.99/mo ($71.88/year). Every paid tier supports up to 5 connected shops. There's also a free plan with limited searches, so you can try it before paying anything. If you're budget-conscious and want one tool that does keyword research, listing edits, and basic competitor tracking, Koalanda's annual price is hard to beat.
We're not going to pretend that isn't a good deal for a lot of sellers.
The Gap We Kept Running Into
Here's where it gets specific to us. At Jellies Design, the thing we needed wasn't "what did a competitor sell last month" — it was "what changed since yesterday, and why."
Koalanda's competitor sales data updates once per day, at 00:00 UTC. That's a snapshot, not a stream. You get a daily number, and from that you can build a 30-day or 1-year trend line. What you can't do is see when within the day something shifted — a shop dropping a listing's price at 2pm and seeing an immediate sales bump, for example. One data point a day flattens all of that into a single line.
More importantly, from everything we could verify on Koalanda's own product pages, there's no dedicated price-change tracking with alerts, no tag-change history over time, and no listing classification (new vs. reactivated vs. updated). You get top keywords and top-selling products for a shop as of today — a current snapshot, not a change log. If a competitor quietly drops all their prices 15%, or swaps their entire tag strategy overnight, nothing pushes that information to you. You'd have to go look, remember what it looked like before, and spot the difference yourself.
And there's no email digest. Koalanda is a dashboard you visit; it doesn't come to you.
That's the gap we built Peeksy to close — not "does more stuff," but "watches closer, and tells you when something moves."
So We Built Peeksy This Way
Peeksy takes snapshots of every tracked shop and listing every 6 hours — four times a day, not once — and diffs each snapshot against the last one.
Sales Velocity, Not Just Daily Totals
A once-a-day number tells you a shop sold 14 units yesterday. A 6-hour snapshot tells you it sold 9 of those between noon and 6pm, right after a price drop. That's the difference between seeing an outcome and seeing the cause.
Price Change Detection With Email Alerts
When a tracked competitor changes a price, Peeksy catches it and emails you — old price, new price, when it happened. This is the single feature sellers tell us they miss most when comparing tools. Nobody wants to find out three weeks late that they got undercut.
Tag Change Detection Over Time
Peeksy keeps a history of listing tags, not just the current set. When a competitor's tags shift, you can see exactly what was added and dropped — a real window into their SEO strategy evolving, not just a current-state snapshot.
New / Updated / Reactivated Classification
"12 new listings" can mean very different things: a genuine product launch, a seasonal reactivation, or an old listing getting a refresh. Peeksy classifies which is which, because reacting to the wrong one wastes your attention.
Unlimited Historical Depth
Because Peeksy runs its own time-series database rather than pulling data on demand, your history keeps accumulating for as long as you track a shop — it isn't capped at "last 30 days" or "last year." (Note: Koalanda's 1-year lookback is still meaningfully longer than what most tools offer — we're not claiming otherwise, just that ours doesn't reset.)
Email Digests, Not a Dashboard You Have to Remember to Visit
Daily or weekly, Peeksy sends you what changed — prices, new listings, tag shifts, sales spikes — so you don't have to log in and compare things from memory.
Native English, German, and French
We couldn't find any evidence that Koalanda's interface supports languages beyond English. Peeksy is fully localized in EN, DE, and FR — which matters if you or your competitors sell into DACH or Francophone markets, where most Etsy tools treat you as an afterthought.
Koalanda vs. Peeksy: An Honest Side-by-Side

| Pricing model | Flat rate, all features unlocked | Tiered by number of shops tracked |
The honest summary: Koalanda is broader — keyword research, listing editing, and shop discovery in one flat-rate tool. Peeksy is narrower and deeper on one thing — continuous, alert-driven monitoring of the shops you already care about.
Pricing Comparison
| Koalanda Free | Koalanda (any paid tier) | Peeksy Free | Peeksy Starter | Peeksy Growth | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $11.99/mo · $9.99/mo (quarterly) · $5.99/mo (annual) | $0 | $9.99/mo | $24.99/mo |
| Shops tracked | 5 (limited features) | 5 | 2 | 5 | 20 |
| Core value | Try before you buy | Keywords + SEO + basic daily tracking | Competitor monitoring | + Price alerts + 6h velocity | + More shops, same depth |
Worth being precise here: for 5 shops billed monthly, Koalanda ($11.99) and Peeksy Starter ($9.99) land close together. But if you commit to Koalanda annually, $5.99/mo undercuts every Peeksy tier at that shop count — and you also get keyword research and a listing editor thrown in. If budget is your main constraint and you're fine with once-a-day updates and no alerts, Koalanda's annual plan is genuinely the better deal.
Who Should Consider Peeksy Instead
Koalanda makes sense if you want one affordable tool for keyword research, listing SEO, and a daily competitor check. That covers a lot of sellers well.
Peeksy makes more sense when:
You've been undercut on price and didn't notice for weeks. If that's happened to you, alerts stop being a nice-to-have.
You want to know when something happened, not just that it happened. A daily total can't tell you a sales spike followed a price cut by three hours. A 6-hour snapshot can.
You're tracking a small, specific set of competitors closely rather than discovering new ones — Peeksy doesn't have a shop-discovery browser like Koalanda's Shop Explorer, and isn't trying to.
You sell into DACH or Francophone markets and want a tool that isn't English-only.
You already use Koalanda for keywords and listing edits. Nothing stops you from running both — use Koalanda to research and optimize, use Peeksy to watch what happens after you and your competitors publish.
The "Built by Sellers" Part Isn't Marketing Fluff
Jellies Design has been on Etsy since 2019, with 85,000+ sales and a 4.9-star rating. We built Peeksy's alert-driven monitoring because we lived the alternative: manually re-checking competitor shops every morning, trying to remember what a price or tag list looked like yesterday. A once-a-day dashboard is a big improvement over that. A push notification the moment something changes is a bigger one.
We're not claiming Koalanda is worse — for a lot of what it does, it's a well-priced, well-built tool. We just needed something that watches closer, and tells us the moment it sees something move.
